This cat actually is located in east side of Madura island in Indonesia,in Ra’as Sumenep.Though its from Indonesia This cat has different characteristic that special from local cats.Many people in Madura has it.
The typical of this cat is the similarity of face and body structure with leopard or forest cats.Its face is shape like a box on the upper side and sharp on the chin.The ears is sharp and facing to the top.
The colour is grey to blue (Buso) with a big body bigger than local cats.The long of its tail is medium with bented top.The most easy way to recognize this cats is the colour,face form,and tail.This characteristic sign the related family of Madura cats with wild cats compare to local cats.
Now the population of this cats in Ra’as island is decreasing (not more than 100 cats)in other word is nearly extinct.
This condition is cause many of this cat brought out from Madura.And the death rate is quite big in and outside the Ra’as island.Beside those characteristic this cat has thicker hair texture then local cats.
Beside Buso colour there is other colour such as Stramonium.This colour pattern is known as Birma colour pattern.Its body is chocolate milk colour in most of the body and darker chocolate on the top of the ears,nose,leg,and tail.
Unfortunately this stramonium Madura cats have a face that look a like with local cats (oval).Its a possibility that madura cat can be one of the world cats race if we look from its characteristic.But it needs a hard work to purified the race that can be the mascot of our nation.
